Farewell, My Turnabout: WHAT IS THIS FORESHADOWING THAT YOU SPEAK OF?
I-I don't get how my moods work either.
LET'S GET DOWN TO BUSINESS
TO DEFEAT
THIS SLUMP

To refresh your memory, we failed to get an acquittal in ONE DAY as a certain scary someone demanded. Peaaaaaaaarls ;o;/

Usually, when you show your badge to Gumshoe, he just goes "Pshaw, mine is BIGGER," but since he's been fired...
EDIT:
That Guy:
*I'm a bit surprised you didn't see any symbolism in "Oh! Your badge looks a little tarnished, huh, pal?"
Cláudia:
*... Well now I feel like a moron
*In fact I shall go edit my post now

S-So am I, Phoenix. So am I.

Er... My mind went to undesirable places when I wrote my notes here. "- ... Brain why are you trying to imagine Pearl as an adult now"

Am I the only one who can literally hear Oldbag saying this?

Question: why did THIS GUY, of all the characters in this game, get a cameo in Apollo Justice?! I mean, he's funny, but... but... Yeah, okay, I'm biased towards everyone else in this case.

... Also, how can Edgeworth think he's the real director?

Edgeworth's deeply focused look tells me he's trying very hard to reassure himself this man is a qualified doctor right now.

Heeeeee.

Can't we even get an "Oops, I'm sorry I took advantage of someone's psychological vulnerabilities"-- wait, right, this is Franziska.

(That face... either signifies lust, or the morphine is starting to kick in.)
W-Well, um. Wow. At least she makes up for it later...?

So, my memory's rolling back to my first playthrough now. "Gee," I thought, "It looks like stuff's about to get serious!"

"... his first name is SHELLY PFFFPHHHHHHH" Yeah, I'm pretty sure I didn't like him yet by this point.

But now... I just take this as second-hand acknowledgement of his badassery. And that makes me feel good for some bizarre reason.

Paru and I once reached the conclusion that Jack the Ripper could have been the first de Killer, according to this. I've thought about it maybe too much and I CAN TOTALLY MAKE IT WORK.
Take this guy, for example. The possible contradictions you may find just from reading the first two paragraphs? That's just what he wants you to think.

And a soft spot for animals. It must be canon.

... And I didn't want to believe it then.

I wonder how many of those contain footage of Corrida in the shower.

Ahh, memories... "Oh hey it's a cat door what an odd detail to just randomly put there" I'm sure I didn't even pay that much attention to it at first... I can't quite remember.

... I find it curious that Matt kept this. Is it a genuine memento... or a trophy?

You know, I really admire this ability that he has to keep his creepy red aura in a room with blue lighting.

A-AHAHAHAH YOU WACKY OLD COOT YOU CONTINUE TO BE SO REASSURING (if you were trying to be funny please stop before Maya has a heart attack)

... Let me get back to this later.

This... makes me wonder just how much did Matt and Shelly discuss the kidnapping. Didn't he know where Shelly would be staying? Did he know and just think he wouldn't give a damn about Shoe? If Matt knew, did Shelly feel like calling him afterwards and verbally bitchslapping him for doing something so dumb? (I like to think so.)

Juuuust getting this out of the way.

Peeeeaaaaaaarl <3;;; (I-It's depressing that she thinks this way because of her screwed-up familial situation...)

Oh, but this I remember clearly. "OH GOD IS THAT--"

"FUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUuuuuuuuuck"

(Aside: the fact that Shoe doesn't run the hell away? IT TOTALLY SUPPORTS MY BELIEF THAT SHELLY TREATED HIM WELL, OKAY. ANYTHING ELSE WOULD GO AGAINST THE HEAVY-HANDED FORESHADOWING THAT HE'S MADE OF.)
So one day I just randomly went "Hey, Shelly must have been an absolute disgrace with lies and disguises when he was young" and I had no idea where I got it from, but it just seemed right to me.
I MUST have been subconsciously remembering this scene. Let's see...

Welp. You can say whatever you want about his techniques, but goddammit, as ridiculous as this was, IT WORKED.

COME ON. HE EVEN TRIED TO TELL PHOENIX HE'S NOT REALLY A BUTLER.
...
It's like Shelly was contractually obliged to stand out like a sore thumb and he just had to shoehorn this bit of foreshadowing somewhere. TWICE.

(ALSO LOOK, SHOE TOTALLY FOLLOWS HIM. IT'S CANON GUYS. ;_;)

Speaking of foreshadowing, I thought nothing of these masks until Perverbially pointed them out to me. Symbolism!

OLDBAG GOING OOONGH = NIGHTMARE FUEL.

"I SENT HALF OF THEM."

AHA. AHA. AHA. AHA. AHA.

... I just noticed Shelly actually remarks on this TWICE. Is it like... a pet peeve of his? Does he have to keep telling people "TRANSCEIVERS ARE NOT PHONES BC"?

Come to think of it, I'm surprised Gumshoe knows this stuff.
... Maybe he's just in the wrong line of work! OR IS IT ANOTHER SIGN OF HIS EVIL GENIUS?

<3

Next time: I try to convince you I do not have a thing for creepy psychopaths (to no avail).

I've come to the conclusion that this is all a projection tactic.
(I KNOW RIGHT NO SHIT.)In context with Miles' comparison of Adrian with Franziska at the end, "She's just a weak person, that's all"... reads a lot like Franziska's way of saying, "...And so am I."Or, at least, that's the signal I get from my tinhat. If you don't get it, yours clearly needs retuning :D
(I don't know why this made me laugh, but "I just can't wait to be king" from The Lion King came up on shuffle while I was writing that. Gumshoe could be Zazu...?)
(That face... either signifies lust, or the morphine is starting to kick in.)
Franziska frequently has something of the stoner!face about her, I've noticed. I think it's possibly lack of oxygen from the sheer altitude of looking down on everyone from her high horse.
...People are not always who they appear to be.
FUCK. THIS LINE. ADRIAN SAYS SOMETHING JUST LIKE IT. "LOOKS CAN BE DECEIVING, WOULDN'T YOU AGREE?" OMG.
ADRIAN/SHELLY/SHOE = OT-FUCKING-P ♥
And Gumshoe in this whole case is just my favourite thing ever. I almost cried when he had the car accident ;_; Thank God for Franzy's boundary issues.

Adrian/Shelly/Shoe: ... I APPROVE
Gumshoe: He's generally one of my favourite things ever in nearly any situation. <3

(Also, I can't be the only one wholeheartedly skeeved out by the dialogue in the Hotti clinic where the Director talks about making Franziska scream and Edgeworth is just like, "OH, I SEE.", can I? o_0 Because, like, lol. What. Apparently that rings no alarm bells of badness for Miles :| Either that, or he's stoned, too. Wait, everything is beginning to make sense...!)
Re: The Gumster. I thought Gumshoe was the murderer when I started playing JfA. Because I started with JfA, right, and HE WOULD NOT CONTROL HIS EYEBROWS AND HE HAD A CRUSH ON MAGGEY, SO HE CLEARLY DID IT, RIGHT? I've never been so glad to be wrong ♥

(Maybe Edgeworth thinks doctors can't lie. Ever. And everyone who claims to be a doctor must be one. Um. I dunno. IT IS A MYSTERY.)
... hahahah I love you <3

I actually believe the whole incident would have been almost completely painless for Adrian if Franziska were prosecuting. Adrian was, at that point, latching onto Franziska's advice pretty hardcore and if Franziska had been prosecuting and said something to the effect of, "Adrian Andrews. I believe it would be most prudent of you to tell the court the whole truth concerning your actions in that room," Adrian would have caught on and told the truth without all the emotional blackmail. The problem was that Franziska gave Adrian advice under the impression that she would prosecute, which turned out to be much less helpful when Edgeworth was prosecuting.
If Franziska had been prosecuting, a far more real danger would be that she'd be way more aggressive than Miles was and would make it harder for Phoenix to drag out the trial.
As for, "That still has nothing to do with me. She's just a weak person, that's all," I interpret that more as, "Franziska doesn't want to show what she perceives as weakness in front of Phoenix or Edgeworth," than, "Franziska genuinely has no remorse for what could have happened to Adrian."
BUT NATTIE, WHAT ARE YOUR THOUGHTS ON SNAPE?

Oh yeah, absolutely - the whole situation really does change completely if Franziska had been able to prosecute. I guess what I was trying to say, in my exceptionally clunky way, is that I think if Franziska hadn't had her advantage with Adrian and was backed into the exact same corner as Miles, she would've done the same thing, or at least similar (because obviously, Miles and Franziska have vastly different styles of douchebaggery, when it comes down to it.)
And, well, I agree, again. I promise I don't change my mind easily - it's just that I think we're probably coming at this from the same place, I'm just terrible at the whole "forming coherent, logical sentences" thing :| For me, "I'm weak and can never let my guard down" is definitely the undercurrent of not wanting to show any weakness in front of Phoenix and Miles.
OH NO IS NATTIE MY NICKNAME NOW?
I'm not really into being a fandom warrior. I was way too into the Zelda fandom when I was but a lad (Majora's Mask supremacy, Cremia/Anju OTP), and some of the timeline debates got surprisingly mean-spirited for a children's game, which led me to adopt a "live and let live" approach to fandom. I still like discussing these things, but I don't like arguing to win over subjective things, although I suspect you'd be more civil than dem0n_goku69.
It does if they are cute.
OK, then. I should have been able to tell that's what you meant. I suppose she probably would do what Edgeworth did, but probably not in such a theatrically douchey manner. In that situation, I see her in her eyes-closed, arms-crossed sprite threatening to reveal Adrian's secret, coming off as more exasperated and impatient than anything else. None of this "I will pull the truth from your breathing lips!" bullshit, just no-nonsense "Adrian Andrews, tell the court what happened, or <thinly veiled threat>" and afterwards a smarmy, "There. Was that so terrible?" before she goes back to openly mocking Phoenix Wright.
AND SINCE YOU ASKED, I THINK SNAPE IS A FASCINATING CHARACTER.

SHOOOOOOOOOOOOOE <3
And. fgfhk do you know how much I was wigging out when I first got here and realized that. Maya is just on the other side of that door. Just on the other side of that door. J-just. ;_____;
Also Hitman's Dog canon says that Pess is totally chilling behind the door listening in and being all "ooh I wonder if Mr. shelly is talking to friends see I knew he had friends he's such a nice guy"

... y-you tease ;;;

Don't you know it. ;D
"Oh, don't worry, Ms. Maya! Mr. Shelly won't hurt you at all unless the spikey man doesn't do a good job or something. I'm not really sure, it's all very confusing! Mr. Shelly told me I couldn't work on this job with him, so I don't know a whole lot.
...don't worry, though! I'm here to take care of you! And I definately won't hurt you, unless Mr. Shelly tells me to!"
So reassuring, Pess.

Well, I know why, actually put. Pffft XD
AS BERLIOZ POINTED OUT, SHELLY/ADRIAN. MEANT-TO-FUCKING-BE Do not read that as meant to fuck, plz. <3
And uh. EDGEWORTH STILL RETAINS THAT POSITION OF DOUCHEBAGERY FOR ME SO. *PUNCH*

... I'm gonna bawl when you get to more of the Adrian stuff. Oh god. </3
