He had been staring at the accursed blank sheet of paper for at least half an hour.

Miss Dee Vasquez,
I hope that this letter finds you well. We could have spoken through electronic mail, but I find handwritten messages to be more personal and ultimately preferable on the event that one cannot communicate in person or even through the telephone.

That was a decent start, he supposed. Let's see what else comes naturally.

It has been quite some time since we last did business together, has it not? I hope you do not interpret this the wrong way - I understand that you are a busy woman, after all - but I am, indeed, looking forward to a chance to work with you again. And, of course, I also understand if you have been resorting to other professionals. It is a fact of life that people move on.

He paused awkwardly. What in the WORLD had he just written?

With that said, I would like to humbly suggest a date meeting at the usual café, if only to reminisce. As pleasant as letters can be, I still vastly prefer to speak to people in their presence.

At your service,
Shelly de Killer

He remained in his seat, silent, for some ten more minutes after he was finished writing his note. It was absurd, foolish; if not in its wording, then in the sentiment behind it.

But something compelled him to pursue it.

De Killer left to mail his letter, casually shooting an attacking mobster on his way out.
